Making Time

Hi there, a  friend just recently asked me to write a blog and I thought to myself I haven’t got the time !…… so I was thinking , how many other people have this problem. sheesh, I had 680 unread emails last time I looked. I’ve bought the weekend paper the last 3 weeks

and have noticed that I still haven’t had time to read it

How is your time situation ?

We can be so busy with the every day pressures of life that we can forget to take time out each day to spend time with our creator who made time ! It reminds me of that old poem, that goes something like this

Time to Pray

I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task.
“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered.
He answered, “You didn’t ask.”

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn’t show me.
He said, “But you didn’t seek.”

I tried to come into God’s presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
“My child, you didn’t knock.”

I woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time to pray.

Here’s another version

Mark 4:19

The busyness, worries and cares of this world can choke out the word and we become unfruitful

Disconnected we become unfruitful.

Yes we need our “me” time…..But our first priority should be “his” time. if we don’t spend time with him we become out of whack and uncentered, self-centred, hard hearted and unforgiving……You already know that.

As a matter of fact the 4th commandment says to take the time every week to get reacquainted with our Creator and Redeemer to reconnect and rebalance with him.

It’s not a suggestion it’s a commandment ,which means it’s important to him. It’s a concrete non-negotiable

Wow ! that seems pretty harsh you may say. But the fact is he made us and knows what we need.  even our fellow man benefits when we have a good attitude.  Our family members workmates and other relationships flow a lot better when we are more forgiving, tolerant and patient the more connected we are, and  we become more productive.Life is about relationships

And the more connected we are in healthy relationships the more it gives meaning and purpose to our lives.

Galatians 5:22

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

So friends I would encourage you this week to be more conscious of the time you do spend in meditation and prayer, and remember…….to seek his kingdom first, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
